Creator's Comments:"The feedback I received was a prodding to shoot my stock work in the great outdoors. It's been a process of trial and error. I'm not there yet. Despite rolling around in it, the mud didn't cake my uniform very well either. Sadly this is only a fraction of the photos taken. But direct subject with sun behind the camera did not focus correctly. Really thinking about taking a hammer to the Quantary optics I own. I know, good workman never blames his tools, but in this instance, they make things more difficult."

Steampunk?

I've been thinking about that; I've also been thinking about Post Apocalyptic, but the problem I run into with Steampunk (and it's entirely of my own devices) is trying to be historically correct in a field that is inheretly NOT historically correct :-P... But it's a self defeating loop !

Sometimes you need to kick logic out of the window.

I once had to do a photo shoot where I had to be caked in mud. What we did was purchase several jugs of water, poured it on the already muddy-ish ground and then I rolled around for a while. It wasn't easy but it did the trick.

The other suggestion I can make is get the clothes muddy separately. Let the mud dry into the clothes for a few days, then on the day of your shoot do another quick roll in the mud.

Beyond that, I've been really digging your work. :)
